We have a long history of developing leadership qualities and skills in young people.
The start of this journey is for young people (aged 14+) to take part in our Young Leaders training which is a 12 week course which aims to develop the following life skills:
The basics of communication.
Working as a team.
Confidence in public-speaking and representing young people within the community.
Level 1 First Aid qualification.
Knowledge of volunteering opportunities locally.
Confidence to challenge forms of discrimination.
To complete the course young people need to complete a minimum of 80% of the programme.
Once the course is completed young people can volunteer in local youth clubs, at sports sessions, holiday programmes and possibly go on to work for us as part of our NCS team.
A number of our own staff team started out as volunteers with us and have gone on through further training to work for us, and we want to continue to develop our own leaders of the future.
