England rugby star has Q and A with young people at Youth Moves They say never meet your heroes, but it depends who they are. Here at Youth Moves we are blessed to have some awesome ambassadors, and one is a true legend. He has risen from the estate of Knowle West to international glory in rugby. He is of course the Baby Rhino, Ellis Genge. Probably second to Tricky as the most famous man from the South Bristol estate, where our office is located, Ellis started his career with Bristol Bears, before moving onto Leicester Tigers in 2016, and has gone on to win 18 caps for England. The 25 year old is considered one of the most talented and up and coming players in the country. A loose head prop he is known for his physical prowess, which is something he learnt playing junior rugby in Bristol and on the streets of Knowle West. He has always remained grounded and connected to his roots, so we were delighted when he agreed to come and do a Q and A session with a small selected group of young people, over zoom. To say they were excited is an understatement. He stayed for a full hour and was probed by young people, with questions about his upbringing, international games, his aggression, dyspraxia, and whether he would one day return to play in his home city of Bristol. As ever Ellis answered with honesty and frankness all with the great humour and compassion he is known for. We plan on releasing a best of the event on video here soon - but in the meantime we would like to give a huge thank you to Ellis for giving up his time, and for the young people for some excellent probing questions! Up the Knowle West!
