Exciting times as Youth Moves has a new home! After years of planning finally we have moved into our brand new home. The new facility is situated on the same Park Centre site, and part of the new development offering a range of community services. Which will see a new school being built, the first one in Knowle West for almost 30 years, since Merrywood closed in 1995. The brand new Park Centre building in Knowle West Over the last few weeks we have been gradually taking desks, chairs and cabinets out of our old offices. We even got to say goodbye to our friend Mr Mouse, who had been an unwelcome resident in our offices for quite a while. Joking aside, leaving has been emotional for some, and when we finally had our last session with young people and our last day of work in the office, many young people and staff were sad and even close to tears. There has been generations of young people we have built relationships with over the years there, many of which are adults today, so we do hold cherished memories from it. On the day of the move, CEO Ali Dale who has been working here for over 20 years was feeling reflective. He said: "We are finally leaving the old Youth Moves offices at the Park Centre. I’ve been coming through the doors of this building for 21 years now so sad to say goodbye, but on to exciting journeys in our new youth club! Which is on the same site so not far to walk! So come and say hello.” Now located on the other side of the Park centre site in Knowle West, the new building has a large open planned space, a recording and podcast studio, a one to one room, and houses all our offices. We even have a lovely corner kitchen with a seating area! It's great, we are really pleased with it, and we can't wait to start working with young people there, making some new memories and bringing through the next generation of South Bristol young people. Planning new activities for young people in the new building On Thursday 10th March we invited young people to come and have a look and have their say on what additional equipment they would like and what new activities we can do. More to come on that! In the meantime please pop over and say hello, and spread the word to the local community, and if you know anyone one that would like to join one of our new sessions at the new facility then please let us know. Exciting times ahead!
