He has a background in youth work and community development, and moved into journalism 12 years ago working for various media outlets. He is passionate about telling stories about people and communities that are often unheard and unseen.

Despite his dodgy knees today, he is a former England schoolboy international footballer who was once on the books of Premier League club Southampton FC.
