Our History

I love working here, there is a genuine family feel that's like an extension of the local community. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else

We started life as Positive Futures in 2002, as part of the national Home Office Positive Futures programme, working with the hardest to reach young people in Knowle West.

This became Youth Moves in 2005 and we soon spread our work across most of the deprivation areas of South Bristol. Many of our staff come from the local communities themselves, a number have come through our projects and gone on to apprenticeships and paid roles, and we still have some original members from when we were formed.

Our simple aim is to support young people on their journeys, and we have been on quite a journey ourselves.

This was encapsulated in 2015 when we were nominated and subsequently won the Children & Young People Now Youth Award for best Youth Work Charity in the UK. It is considered the gold standard award for innovation, excellence and impact for youth work in the country.
